Chest Wall Stretch
A single-arm chest stretch taken against a wall: one straight arm stays planted while the body turns away from it. One side at a time, which is what separates it from a doorway stretch taken on both arms at once.
Also called: Chest Wall Stretches, Wall Chest Stretch, Wall Pec Stretch, Single-Arm Wall Chest Stretch · Equipment: stretching · Pattern: isolation
How to do it
Step by step
- Stand beside a wall and place one hand flat on it behind you, at about shoulder height.
- Keep that arm straight — bending it moves the stretch off the chest.
- Turn your body away from the wall until you feel the stretch across the front of the shoulder and chest.
- Pull the shoulder that faces the wall forwards to deepen it.
- Breathe normally and hold, then release under control and repeat on the other side.
- Vary the height of the hand between sets to reach different parts of the chest.
