VALDA vs Hevy

THE SHORT ANSWERBoth are capable workout loggers with free plans, watch apps and no ads. Choose VALDA if you want to paste a programme and train it, run a named programme with its progression rules applied, or keep free cycle tracking in the same app as your lifting. Choose Hevy if you want a social feed of the people you follow, to rate RPE on every set, or to keep years of history: Hevy imports from Strong and exports to CSV, and VALDA can't import or export workout history yet.

Honestly

When Hevy is the better choice

  • You have workout history in Hevy and don't want to start fresh. VALDA can't import it yet.
  • You want a social feed of workouts from people you follow. VALDA has private groups, not a public feed.
  • You rate RPE on every set. VALDA works effort out from your sets instead of asking (Forge, part of VALDA Pro).
  • You want a CSV export of your workouts, or more history on the free plan (Hevy keeps 3 months free; VALDA keeps 30 days).

When VALDA fits better

  • You have a programme written down, from a coach, a book or a forum post, and want to paste it in and train it.
  • You follow a well-known programme such as GZCLP or 5/3/1 and want the app to work out your next weight (automatic progression: Free: 6 sessions · Pro: unlimited).
  • You track your cycle and want it next to your training, free, in the same app.
  • You want to leave your phone in the locker and log from an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch.
